February 21, 2012 Family Fun

One of the best things about traveling is you see how much we have in common.  I took this picture in St. Andrews, Scotland (where the first golf course was built).  It's hard to see the difference between this beach on a cold winter's day and Huntington Beach.  A young family plays with their dog on a freezing beach in the middle of winter.  St. Andrews is definitely colder than Huntington Beach but this doesn't get in the way of the family having fun and if you go to dog beach in Huntington Beach you will see the same picture of a young family having a great time with their dog.

February 16, 2011 Art on the outside.

After going to the Scotland Royal Museum, (incredible art) , we were walking back to our hotel.  It was very cold, and just rained.  I saw this building with the moon above.  I know that, although I love museums there is also art outside.  Every where you turn in Edinburgh  you see  beautiful art .

February 14, 2012 Sunset on Calton HIll

We were very lucky to see a few beautiful sunsets on our trip to Edinburgh.   The setting sun brought the beautiful warm colors of the stones that were used to build on Calton Hill.  The view is beautiful on his hill that looks over  Queen Elizabeth's palace, Holyrood.   The pictures I uploaded the last few days I took from this hill.
Oops, I just realized it's Valentine's Day and I should or want to say something about love.  This is the day you think about all the different kinds of love we have in our lives.  I'm thankful that I am surrounded by love by my whole family and I'm especially fortunate that I love.  I'm one of the luckiest woman to love and be loved by a wonderful man, David (I know this is cheesy).  Happy Valentine's Day to everyone and I hope your day is full of love.

February 13, 2012 What you Don't See

Sometimes, when I look at photograph I've taken I ask myself questions of the story behind the photograph.  Why is the young woman standing on the steps of the ruin taking a picture of the girl on the grass?  Why isn't the girl on the grass taking the picture of the young woman on the ruin?  Why didn't I climb the steps and look at what she saw?  Until I go back to Edinburg, I will never know.  I'm looking forward to going back to this mysterious city.

February 11, 2012 A Sense of History

I'm deviating from my general theme again.  Last Monday, we got back from a week in  Scotland.  I was originally going to add photographs for my blog during the week but life was so hectic wanting to see and experience everything Scottish.  We had a wonderful time in this friendly and beautiful city.  What amazed me were the buildings.  Every where you walked and looked there was a sense of history, you knew that there were people who had walked this streets hundreds of years before now.  I wonder what stories my little church down the hill can tell of people who lived and walked these streets.

January 24, 2012 A Sunset almost Missed

Yesterday was a wet and stormy day, so I knew the sunset today should be beautiful.  Despite the cold weather, my daughter, Sonya and I took a long walk on the beach.  At first the sunset looked like it was not going to be special.  The sun was hiding behind the clouds and there was not much color but grey and a light orange.  We turned around to walk back to the car when we saw a woman taking pictures  the opposite way. We quickly turned around and we saw one of the most beautiful sunsets.  The clouds were reflecting a red, gold, yellow and orange.  In the sand, the colors were as vibrant as the sky.  Words cannot do the sunset justice.  I hope my photograph does.

January 14,2012 Sunset for the Birds

My husband and I were on our way to La Jolla when we decided to get off in Carlsbad and head to the beach.  I'm glad we did!  It would have been a shame if  we missed this sunset and left it to the birds.
Happy birthday to my wonderful nephew Matthew.  I'm so happy you are home! Love you.  This sunset is for you.
